The area of production, form a sort of quadrilateral and is represented by the hilly area that brings together twenty-five municipalities: Barengo, Boca, Bogogno, Borgomanero, Briona, Cavaglietto, Cavaglio d'Agogna, Cavallirio, Cressa, Cureggio, Fara Novarese, Fontaneto d ' Agogna, Gattico, Ghemme, Grignasco, Maggiora, Marano Ticino, Mezzomerico, Oleggio, Prato Sesia, Romagnano Sesia, Sizzano, Suno, Vaprio d'Agogna, Veruno.
The vines up the vineyard will be those typical, with prevalence, at least 85% of the grape that gives its name to individual types.
In 1997 the Ghemme Doc won the recognition of Docg (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita).
